I know what you’re thinking. Boring right? I’m not gonna lie, it is. BUT, you know what’s not boring? Ranking on the first page of google. And you know what also isn’t boring? Me. I promise to make this fun, or in the very least, tolerable.

SEO takes work and I’ll walk you through the process on how to do it because I’ve done it before.

THE CONTENT

I know how to help you. Here’s what we would be doing over the 5 week course:

WEEK 1 - INTRODUCTION

We’ll go over what SEO is and isn’t, bad practices vs good ones, and set up some expectations and goals for your personal SEO and ranking domination.

WEEK 2 - PREP

An entire session just for prep work? Yes. We’ll go over tools to understand what analytics to look at, how you’re currently ranking, and document everything. This is important to be able to track what’s working and why.

WEEK 3 - KEYWORDS

Keywords seem like they would be easy, but getting some realistic expectations around what your competition is and if you could actually rank on the first page all comes down to proper keywords selection, research, strategy, and commitment. For example, if you’re a company that sells shoes, trying to rank with just “shoes” isn’t going to work my friend. But if you’re a shoe company that specializes in dance shoes then having “glitter tap shoes for children” will be a lot easier.

WEEK 4 - WEBSITE & SEM

We’ll look at best practices for the back end of your website and the front end and what that all means. We’ll also look at Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and go over why proper backlinks are crucial and how to get them.

WEEK 5 - TRACKING PROGRESS

I’ll help you set up tools on how to track your progress, expect results in 6-12 months, and depending how aggressive you are, as early as 3. We’ll talk about overall maintenance and ongoing work.

Q&A

Q: Are you going to go over google ads?

A: Nope, I’m a believer in trying to get free traffic first. I like my SEO like I like my fruit, organic. (I told you I’m fun).

Q: How much time will this take me?

A: If you have a website with 5-8 pages, can get around your website just fine, and are very clear on your specific offering in the market I would say ~5-10 hours over the course. However, if you have 20+ pages, struggle with websites in general, and don’t have a clear target customer? You’ll need to invest 20+ hours over the course.

Q: What kind of a website builder should I have?

A: Any really, but I’ve worked with Squarespace (what I use), Shopify, Wordpress, and Wix.

Q: How do I know if I should take the course?

A: Do you want to start getting business from google? Are you happy with your website and feel it’s time to get traffic? Are you just about to launch your site and want to set up some best practices? Then you’re a good candidate.

Q: What if I don’t have the time and want someone else to do it for me?

A: That’s fine! Any team member can be signed up for the course, they’ll just need access to your website backend.
