I'm kicking the year off with a brand spanking new video series!
Here's the deal. I don't like writing all that much. I mean, I'll do it. I'm here. BUT I love talking with people! Instead of just lamo podcast though (jk I love podcasts), I thought, let's do video! I like seeing people's faces and reactions and I think you do, too.
We're starting off the series with my smart sweet sister Jamie Nugent! She's a badass futures trader with some great insight into money, intuition, and emotions. You're gonna want to watch this.
Not sure you want to watch the full video? Above is a little 1 minute tidbit for your viewing pleasure.
Loved it? Feel like you're in for some more? Here's the full 1 hour interview!
If you're wanting to skip around here's an outline of what we chitchatted about:
0:00 - Talking about visiting Vegas (it's not gonna happen) and how we're sisters!
3:00 - Introducing Jamie, why I am interviewing her (she's a futures trader).
4:25 - Jamie talking about getting hired as an admin and how she moved her way into trading full time! She's the American Dream I'm telling you!
10:23 - Jamie lists some contributing factors why she was successful at what she did.
12:32 - Jamie discusses her relationship to her boss Mike, who was influential on her career.
16:50 - Mike teaches Jamie a life lesson about decision making, "When you don't make a decision, that is your decision".
19:18 - No one can make it on their own. We all need people to help lift us up and teach us.
21:04 - On how to ask for what you want (it might look like the 1 minute version above!)
22:58 - On how to manage expectations, get what you need to succeed, be grateful and move on.
28:04 - How money and emotions will always be tied together
46:17 - Jamie shares her favorite books and links below!
The Role of Deliberate Practice in the Acquisition of Expert Performance by K. Anders Ericsson, Ralf Th. Krampe, and Clemens Tesch-Romer
The Common Denominator of Success by Albert E.N. Gray
The Art of Choosing by Sheena Iyengar
The Disciplined Trader: Developing Winning Attitudes by Mark Douglas
The Psychology of Trading: Tools and Techniques for Minding the Markets by Brett N. Steenbarger (Jamie didn’t recommend this in the original video but sent this later)
49:03 - Jamie answers, 'what makes you feel strong?'
50:43 - Jamie talks about the feminist topic she cares most about.
Jamie! Thank for being the first interview! I love you!
